Jessica Lu

FOUNDER

Lu is a compassionate individual committed to making a meaningful difference in the world. After a successful 25-year career as a footwear designer, she realized she could contribute more to a cause close to her heart: helping abandoned animals. Driven by a deep love for animals, Lu believes the Earth should be treated as a shared community, not just a resource for human consumption. Her goal is to make eco-conscious choices every day to lead a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. With a genuine passion for improving the world for both animals and the environment, Lu's journey reflects her deep sense of care, responsibility, and desire to live in harmony with nature and its inhabitants.

April Hsiung

CO-FOUNDER

April loves snowboarding, surfing, & the pole arts. She enjoys introducing those passions to others. She believes that the challenge of pole dancing sparks drive & purpose in our body & mind. April hopes there is a day that many understand the benefits of pole art fitness & expression. Meanwhile you can find April rescuing animals.

Heron

TEAM MEMBER

Introducing Heron, a genuine animal lover with 16 years of experience in the world of animal rescue. She wears many hats, taking charge of backend operations, coordinating animal rescue efforts, providing adoption counseling, managing social media, and stepping in wherever help is needed.

For the past decade, Heron has been an incredible foster parent to dogs, specializing in medical cases and offering them the dedicated care they need to thrive. She finds great joy in mentoring fellow fosters and volunteers, fostering a supportive community of like-minded animal lovers.

With 12 years of dog training under her belt, Heron excels at teaching boisterous pups how to become well-behaved companions. She has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, constantly attending courses and seminars on dog training, health, behavior, and animal welfare operations. Her commitment to staying up-to-date ensures that she is well-versed in the latest standards, practices, and training methods.

When she isn't busy with rescue, you can often find her and her spouse hitting the road with their pack of three Siberian Huskies and an Australian Kelpie. Together, they've embarked on unforgettable adventures, exploring eight states and creating cherished memories along the way.

Her hands-on experience and unwavering commitment to continuous improvement assures that every dog and foster under the care of Welcome Home Sanctuary receives the support and love to ensure their well-being.
